let me love you with a sunset
painted all over this island sky
under the single tree-shore
where angels wedge between
our sandy feet
we glide through waves
and water gleefully welcomes
our hesitant arrival
you said the trickling sweat
on my left arm tastes poetic
i lift my head and sunlight
washes over memory
the sky is just the right pantone blue
the sea is a serving spoon
that hands use
to keep palms from sweating
out our destined differences
sands cover our lines
and rushing water keep
things under her skirt
I float, quietly balanced on
sea, arms stretched out
in crucifixion
